Fireworks are not a new invention, the Chinese had firework displays back in the 9th century.
Although fireworks are good fun they can also be very dangerous. To make sure that we stay safe,
we have to follow the ‘Firework Code’:
What are your favourite fireworks?
1. Keep fireworks in a closed box or tin
- take them out of the box one at a time Can you draw a picture of your favourite firework here?
and always replace the lid on the box /
tin immediately.
2. Follow the instructions carefully on each
firework. Always read instructions by
torch light - never by the light of a flame.
3. When someone lights a firework, they
should do so at arm’s length using only
a special firework lighter or taper.
4. Always stand well back when fireworks
are being lit.
5. Never return to a lit firework even if you
think that it has gone out. The firework
may explode in your face.
6. Never throw fireworks.
7. Never put fireworks in your pocket.
8. Keep pets indoors around bonfire night.
REMEMBER:
9. Never play with fireworks. a. Organised bonfires/fireworks displays are the best ones to attend.
b. Fireworks and bonfires should only be lit by adults.
